Project description

The "Soil box" project has the objective of transferring theoretically acquired knowledge in the field of soil science into daily agricultural practice. This should be achieved with the help of an innovative instrument for self-study. Soil box aims to combine well-tried know-how with new scientific findings. It offers subscribers from agriculture and consultancy the opportunity to obtain knowledge about the soil and its complex processes in an understandable and practical way. The development of the tools for each box is planned in close cooperation with experts from practice, consultancy, and science. Practical tests and further development take place with farmers from the OG and with the extended network. Practitioners will be directly instructed through the soil boxes, independently assessing soil properties with the necessary tools. Land managers and consultancies will be provided with comprehensive, didactically and technically sound tools for assessing the current growth conditions for crops. With this knowledge, appropriate strategies for the conservation, optimization, and further development of soil fertility can be derived.
