Project description

In recent years, innovative, small vegetable nurseries, known as market gardeners, have grown rapidly. These businesses are characterized by resource-conserving cultivation and direct marketing to local consumers. Such methods promote sustainability and strengthen regional value creation.

The “Digital vegetable field” project aims to make market gardens more effective and efficient through digitalization. To this end, software is being developed to improve data collection and decision-making. This software should be intuitive to use and easy to integrate into the day-to-day work of gardeners. A particular challenge is to make the software so user-friendly that it does not disrupt the workflow.

The software developed will help market gardeners to work more economically efficiently and at the same time strengthen the principles of regenerative agriculture. By facilitating data collection and analysis, better cultivation strategies can be developed, leading to more sustainable production. The software will not only benefit local farms, but will also be used throughout the German-speaking world. Translation into other languages could further increase the reach of the innovation.
