Project description
In recent years, the demands on agricultural construction have increased significantly. At the same time, however, there is often a lack of qualified civil engineers, meaning that these requirements cannot be adequately implemented in construction projects. Farmers are often left on their own when it comes to planning and implementation or have to rely on the assessments of numerous consultants. This often leads to planning and implementation errors which, on the one hand, do not meet the requirements for animal-friendly husbandry and, on the other hand, result in economic disadvantages or an increased workload.
The “InnoBau” project aimed to promote the sustainability of innovative construction projects in the agricultural sector by developing new, systematic decision-making processes. It should be possible to evaluate construction projects in terms of their ecological, economic and social sustainability as early as the planning phase. To this end, a special tool for structured pre-planning management was designed and tested. Prof. Dr. Urban Hellmuth provided the necessary evaluation and sub-criteria.
In the course of the project, discussions and meetings with the participating farmers led to a further development of the originally planned list of criteria. In addition, a five-page list of questions was drawn up, which - together with the evaluation criteria - forms the basis for the “Construction Planning Manual”. A draft of this handbook and the final project report can be viewed below.
